Upgrade the Agent from the Orchestrator

Upgrading BlastShield™ Agents

We recommend that you keep all nodes In a BlastShield™ Network on the same firmware release.

Agents may be upgraded in two ways:

  1. The Agent may be upgraded directly from the Orchestrator. This is the most convenient method, but requires both the Orchestrator and Agent to already be on releases of 1.2 or higher.

  2. The Agent may be upgraded from the host on which it is running. (This works for all releases, but requires access to the host),

If you want to upgrade your Agent from the host on which it is running, read this article: Upgrade an Agent from the host.

  1. Check the available release on the Orchestrator

    1. Connect to BlastShield™ and open the Orchestrator in your browser (https://orchestrator.blastshield.io).

    2. Select the Firmware menu on the left.

    3. Check the Orchestrator and Agent firmware versions are both 1.2 or higher.

      1. Check the Orchestrator is on the latest release. If it is not on the latest release then you should upgrade the Orchestrator. Please refer to the Orchestrator upgrade process for details of how to check the release and upgrade it: Upgrade the Orchestrator firmware

      2. If either the Orchestrator or Agent releases are lower than 1.2.0 then the Agent upgrade status will show "Must be manually upgraded". You can find the manual upgrade process here: manual upgrade procedure.

    4. Check that the Agent which you want to upgrade appears in the list of Upgradable Gateways and Agents.

    5. The firmware version and status will be displayed in the status window on the far right.  Make sure the Agent is online.

  2. Upgrade the Agent

    1. Click on the Agent menu on the left hand side of the Orchestrator.

    2. Select your Agent. Click on the red Upgrade Agent Software button as shown in the image below.

    3. You will be prompted to confirm and then the Agent software will be downloaded and the Agent will restart.

    4. When the Agent status shows Online the upgrade will be finished.

    5. Verify the Client version shown is matches the release target you upgraded to.

Both the Agent and the Orchestrator must run firmware release 1.2 or higher to upgrade the Agent from the Orchestrator.

If either are lower than release 1.2 then you can upgrade the agent directly from it's host.
